Fatal shooting in Dnipro: Police launch investigation

The leadership of the National Police has opened a criminal investigation into the fatal shooting of a police officer in the city of Dnipro, according to the Patrol Police of the Dnipro region.
According to the agency, the incident occurred today, August 29, on Ivan Mazepa Avenue. All relevant services are working at the scene - the investigative team and police forensic experts, as well as employees of the State Bureau of Investigation.
It is the State Bureau of Investigation that will establish all the circumstances of the incident within the framework of criminal proceedings.
"The leadership of the National Police has ordered an internal investigation into the use of service firearms by a patrol policeman. At the moment, the patrol officers have been suspended from duty," the statement said.

The SBI version
According to RBK-Ukraine, SBI officers, with the assistance of the National Police, have launched an investigation into the incident in Dnipro.
It has been preliminarily established that law enforcement officers tried to stop an elite car in the center of Dnipro, whose driver ignored the legal requirements of traffic rules. After stopping the car, the man behaved aggressively and had all the signs of alcohol intoxication.
The police officer had to use his service weapon. As a result, the driver of the car died from gunshot wounds.
Currently, criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 1 Article 115, Part 3 Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Investigators of the State Bureau of Investigation are examining all the circumstances of the incident. The issue of detaining the law enforcement officer and serving him a notice of suspicion is being decided. The Dnipropetrovs'k Regional Prosecutor's Office is in charge of procedural supervision.
Shooting in Dnipro
On the evening of Tuesday, August 29, the media reported a shooting involving police officers in the city of Dnipro. According to preliminary reports, a man died as a result of the incident.
On August 26, a local resident opened fire with a traumatic pistol in the center of Dnipro. He was later detained by law enforcement.
Also in mid-July, unidentified persons fired at a car with a traumatic weapon in Odesa. Police launched Operation Siren in the city.
