Fall eating and weight loss: Practical advice from Ukraininan trainer

Weight loss in fall, vitamin D, apathy, and motivation. Should workouts change with the seasons, and does detox really help with weight loss?
Fitness coach Viktor Mandziak discussed this in a brief interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Do workouts need to change in fall
According to the expert, the seasons do not affect the effectiveness of training.
"To stay healthy and fit, three to five intense workouts per week and seven to ten thousand steps per day are enough, whether it’s autumn or summer. There is no special seasonal adjustment needed for training," Mandziak explains.
Does the body burn more calories in fall
It is commonly believed that colder weather makes the body use more energy. But this is a myth.
"Calories are burned through metabolism and physical activity. Autumn, summer, or winter—it doesn’t matter," the trainer says.
How to stay motivated during autumn apathy
Mandziak emphasizes that instead of searching for motivation, it’s better to create a system.
"I have a clear plan: I train on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday after work. Whether I feel like it or not, I go to my workout. Over time, it becomes a habit, and the brain itself reminds you that it’s time to exercise," he explains.
Why vitamin D is important in fall
As the days grow colder, sunlight decreases, so it’s important to pay attention to nutrition.
"Vitamin D is found in fish and eggs. It also accumulates in fat tissue. If you spent a lot of time in the sun during summer and then start losing weight in autumn, vitamin D is released into the bloodstream along with fat, allowing it to perform its beneficial functions," the expert explains.
