In the Russian city of Oryol, multiple explosions were reported on the evening of November 16. The target may have been the local thermal power plant (TPP), reports Russian media outlets.

Local media reported that in the evening, residents were warned about the "danger of strike drones" coming from the Bryansk region. Later, residents heard loud explosions and reported a fire near the TPP.

Russian authorities claimed they "shot down" six strike drones over Oryol, and "emergency services" were deployed to the scene. Local officials have not yet commented on the impact of the strikes. Photos and videos of the fire, allegedly caused by a drone hit, have already appeared online.

Earlier, on November 13, residents of Oryol reported explosions amid warnings of missile and drone threats. Videos shared online showed debris falling from the sky.

Previously, unidentified drones attacked Oryol on the night of November 5. The regional Governor stated that Ukrainian drones were destroyed. On the night of October 31, Ukrainian missiles targeted the Oryol TPP.

The governor of the Oryol region was eventually forced to acknowledge the attacks. Initially, he claimed that "drone debris" had fallen and denied any fires, although numerous videos showed otherwise. Later, the Ukrainian Navy confirmed it carried out missile strikes on the Oryol TPP using Neptune missiles.
