Explosions rock Ukraine's Kharkiv as Russian drones hit buildings and gas stations

A series of drone strikes was recorded in Kharkiv, Ukraine, on the morning and throughout the day on May 2, including hits on gas stations in several districts. The attacks left several people injured, according to city mayor Ihor Terekhov and Kharkiv Regional Military Administration head Oleh Syniehubov.
At around 6:30 a.m., a drone struck vehicles in the Kholodnohirskyi district of the city, sparking a fire at the scene. Two cars were destroyed and seven others damaged. Preliminary reports indicated there were no casualties.
At approximately 10:00 a.m., Russian drones attacked the Slobidskyi district. Syniehubov said the facade and windows of a building were damaged, but no injuries were reported.
At around 11:00 a.m., new strikes were recorded in the Saltivskyi and Osnovianskyi districts.
In the Osnovianskyi district, preliminary reports said that drones struck a car dealership building, among other targets. Initial reports mentioned one injured person, but the number later rose to three.
"A 47-year-old man suffered wounds affecting his left shoulder blade, while an 89-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman experienced acute stress reactions," the military administration chief said.
The attacks on the city continued into the afternoon. At around 2:00 p.m., drone strikes hit gas stations in the Kholodnohirskyi, Osnovianskyi, Novobavarskyi, and Kyivskyi districts. A residential building in the Shevchenkivskyi district was also struck.
Syniehubov clarified that as of 2:30 p.m., at least four people were known to have been injured. One of them, a 62-year-old man, suffered blast injuries and was hospitalized. The others experienced acute stress reactions.
An apartment building and the grounds of two gas stations were damaged.
In addition, a hostile drone strike damaged the roof of a private home in the Novobavarskyi district.
Earlier, on the morning of May 1, Russian forces launched drone attacks on five districts of Kharkiv. Strikes on gas stations were recorded, leaving people injured.
According to Ukraine's State Emergency Service, the Russians targeted five gas stations.
Fires broke out at two of them—in the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv and in Chuhuiv city—but were quickly extinguished.
