Zelenskyy flags unusual Belarus moves near Ukraine border, vows response

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during his video address, said that “specific” activity has been observed on the border between Ukraine and Belarus from the Belarusian side. He stressed that the situation is fully under control and that Ukraine is ready to respond if necessary.
“Recently, there was quite specific activity along sections of the Ukraine–Belarus border — from the Belarusian side. We are carefully recording everything, everything is under control, and if necessary, we will respond,” the president said.
Zelenskyy added that Ukraine is ready to defend its people and its sovereignty. He emphasized that everyone must understand this — especially those who are being drawn into any aggressive actions against Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, also commented on the situation. He suggested that, at most, Belarus could carry out minor provocations.
“Regarding Belarus, all their actions along the border are being monitored. As of now, from that side, at most minor provocations are possible, which would cost the Belarusian side more. Nothing beyond that,” he wrote on Telegram.
Threat to Ukraine from Belarus
It should be recalled that a few weeks ago, President Zelenskyy warned that Russia would try to drag Belarus into the war against Ukraine.
He said that, according to intelligence data, Minsk is already building roads toward Ukrainian territory and setting up artillery positions.
Later, Zelenskyy added that the Russians have “many sick and фантастical ideas,” and Ukraine does not want Belarus to be drawn into them.
