Russian forces are again attacking Kryvyi Rih. Just before midnight, explosions were heard in the city amid a massive drone attack, according to Oleksandr Vilkul.
"Kryvyi Rih. Explosions. Another massive Shahed attack. Take care of yourselves and your loved ones," the mayor said.
Around 11:30 PM, the Air Force of Ukraine reported that a large group of Russian strike drones was heading toward Kryvyi Rih.
"A large group of drones moving toward Kryvyi Rih," the Air Force said.
On January 7 and 8, Russian forces attacked Kryvyi Rih in what became the most intense bombardment of the city since the start of the full-scale invasion. Dozens of explosions were recorded throughout the day and evening, while the air raid alert lasted more than 10 hours.
On January 7, authorities reported that eight people were injured, several of them in serious condition.
RBC-Ukraine also reported that due to the attack on the regional center, miners at one of the mines were trapped underground after power outages at several mines in Kryvyi Rih. State Emergency Service crews helped the miners reach the surface; the rescue operation lasted more than six hours.
The day before, Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine and Kyiv, which had been warned about by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Russian forces used drones and ballistic and cruise missiles, among other weapons.
In Kyiv, the January 9 strikes left four people dead and 25 injured; the Qatari Embassy was hit.
Explosions were also reported on January 9 in the Lviv region, where Russian forces carried out a missile strike.
