Explosions reported in Russia's Taganrog overnight after drone attack
Explosions were heard in the city of Taganrog, Rostov region (Russia), during the night of December 11. Air defense systems are still operating in the area due to an air attack, according to Taganrog Mayor Svitlana Kambulova and Russian media outlets.
After 3 AM (Moscow time), monitoring channels initially reported a missile threat in the Rostov region. Later, local authorities announced an attack on Taganrog using drones.
Public groups also mentioned the threat of ballistic missiles.
“Attention! UAV attack. If possible, go to lower floors or a basement. Find a place without windows and sit on the floor,” said the city mayor.
Additionally, around 3:30 AM, the Taganrog Civil Protection Department issued a warning about a missile threat.
Footage from Taganrog appeared online, showing the sounds of multiple explosions and gunfire. Local groups reported the operation of air defense systems.
Updated: local authorities report missile strike
According to Rostov Governor Yury Slyusar, the missile attack damaged an industrial enterprise and set fire to 14 cars in the parking lot. The statement was posted on Telegram early this morning.
The official added that no casualties were reported among the people.
Meanwhile, local social media and Russian media suggest that the attack may have targeted the OJSC Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex named after G. M. Beriev (TANTK named after G.M. Beriev). However, this information is not currently confirmed.
Note: According to publicly available data, TANTK, named after G. M. Beriev, is an aircraft manufacturing company based in Taganrog. The company’s main testing facility is the Taganrog-South airfield.

Earlier that night, a series of explosions occurred in Bryansk, where a major fire broke out at a Transneft oil depot following a drone attack.
Bryansk’s governor claimed that all ten drones were shot down by air defense systems, adding that no casualties have been reported. According to him, the drone attack caused a fire at a production facility.
Additionally, explosions were also reported in Taganrog on the night of December 8. Loud sounds were also heard in Kursk and Kurchatov. Due to an air attack, air defense systems were operating in these areas.
