Explosions hit Kyiv during drone attack

On the night of May 26, explosions were heard in Kyiv, likely caused by air defense operations. The capital is currently under drone attack, according to RBC-Ukraine correspondent and the Telegram channel of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The air raid alert in the capital was announced at 12:43 a.m. Kyiv time. Just a few minutes later, explosions were already heard in the city. Soon after, the military confirmed that drones were heading toward Kyiv.
"Attention! Shaheds targeting Kyiv and Kharkiv," read the message at 12:54 a.m.
In addition, the head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, Tymur Tkachenko, urged residents of Kyiv to remain in safe places until the all-clear signal is given.
Earlier, according to the Kyiv Regional Military Administration, air defense systems were active in the region.

"Kyiv! Air defense is at work! Stay calm! Remain in shelters until the air raid alert is over," emphasized the Kyiv City Military Administration.
Combined Russian attack on Kyiv and Ukraine
On the night of May 25, Russia carried out a massive assault on Ukraine, including the capital city. The enemy used both combat drones and various types of missiles in the attack.
Specifically, Russia launched 298 drones and 69 missiles. In response, Ukrainian air defense forces shot down 139 drones and 45 missiles.
A total of 13 regions of Ukraine came under attack. These include: Kyiv, Kyiv region, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Ternopil, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Sumy, and Poltava regions.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that emergency services responded in more than 30 cities and towns following the Russian shelling. As a result of the attack, dozens of people were injured and over 10 were killed.
