Explosions heard in Russian Belgorod, video
In the evening, powerful explosions were heard in the Russian city of Belgorod. The city has declared an air alarm, according to local Telegram channels.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, states that the city has activated the missile danger sirens.
He also has urged local residents to seek shelter.
"If you are outside, descend to a shelter or find another safe place," he says.
Russia's reaction
Gladkov states that the Russian air defense system worked over Belgorod and its vicinity.
According to him, they allegedly downed 9 aerial targets in the region.
"There is damage in the city's private sector - windows were broken in 3 residential buildings. Additionally, a gas pipe and one car were damaged. In the Belgorod region, the roofs of three residential buildings were affected," he adds.
Belgorod shelling
Earlier today, the Russian city of Belgorod was unsettled. Residents reported powerful explosions.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense of the aggressor country claimed the supposed downing of Ukrainian missiles Vilha in the region's skies.
Earlier on December 30, Russian media reported a supposed shelling of the city of Belgorod. It was reported that over 40 buildings and 60 vehicles were damaged.
Soon after, sources from RBC-Ukraine in the security services reported that the Security and Defense Forces launched a missile strike on military targets in Belgorod.
In Russia, they reported 100 injured and 14 dead as a result of the shelling. Among the casualties was Mikhail Konopitsyn, an officer of the Russian Investigative Committee.
