On the evening of Monday, January 1st, sounds of explosions were heard in Kyiv. Air defense systems are operating in the city, reports the correspondent of RBC-Ukraine and the Telegram channel of the Kyiv City Military Administration.
At 15:49, an air raid alarm was announced in the capital.
"An air raid is declared in Kyiv! We urge everyone to urgently seek shelter in civil defense shelters!" – stated the Kyiv City Military Administration.

According to the head of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, air defense systems are operating on the outskirts of the capital.
"Air defense systems are active in the outskirts of the capital! Seek shelter!" - he has reported.
At 16:59, an RBC-Ukraine correspondent reported sounds of explosions in the capital.
Later, information about the air defense system was provided by the Kyiv City Military Administration.
"The air raid continues! Air defense systems are operational in the city and region. Seek shelter until the air raid ends," the message read.
Russian attack on Ukraine on New Year's Eve
Russian forces attacked Ukraine tonight with Shahed drones. Odesa, Dnipro, and Lviv were hit. There is information about casualties, deaths, and infrastructure damage.
In total, Russian terrorists attacked Ukraine on New Year's Eve with 90 Shahed kamikaze drones and eight missiles. Air defense forces managed to destroy 87 enemy drones.
