Casualties in Odesa, destroyed Shukhevych museum: Night attack aftermath
Russian troops attacked Ukraine with drones. Odesa, Dnipro, and Lviv came under attack. There are reports of casualties, deaths, and infrastructure damage.

According to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, on New Year's Eve 2024, the enemy used a record number of Shahed-type attack UAVs. The attack was carried out in waves from four directions: Cape Chauda, Balaklava - Crimea, as well as Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk - Russia.
In total, 90 enemy Shahed drones were launched. The enemy also fired four S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles at the Kharkiv region, three Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, and one Kh-59 from the occupied territories of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions.
In most regions of Ukraine, air alerts were declared along the route of the drones.
Air defense was operating in all regions. The air attack was repelled by mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces, fighter aircraft, and anti-aircraft missile units of the Air Force.
Thus, on New Year's Eve, the defenders of the sky managed to destroy a record number of enemy attack UAVs - 87 out of 90 Shaheds.
Overnight, about 60 Shaheds flew through the area of responsibility of the Southern Defense Forces, and more than 50 of them were destroyed.
Most of them were shot down in the Odesa region, with more than 30 drones downed.
Odesa
According to the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration, Oleh Kiper, Russians attacked Odesa with drones at night. The attack resulted in direct and fragmentary hits to residential buildings. A fire broke out in one high-rise building. Rescue workers eliminated it.
At the moment, there are one dead and eight injured residents. Three of them were wounded, and the rest were treated on the spot.
Update 10:23. A 15-year-old teenager was killed as a result of a Russian night attack on Odesa with the Shaheds.
According to Kiper, the enemy deliberately sent some of the drones to residential areas of Odesa's residential districts and suburbs around midnight, where people were gathering in their homes to celebrate the New Year with their families. At least 3 high-rise apartment buildings, 3 private houses, and outbuildings were damaged as a result of the downed UAVs.
"A 15-year-old teenager was killed in the attack. Three people with injuries and burns were hospitalized, four more received medical care on the spot and continue to be treated on an outpatient basis," the head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration writes.
A fire broke out in one of the port terminals as a result of the hit, which was quickly extinguished. No one was injured.

Dnipro
At night, Dnipro was attacked by enemy UAVs.
According to Serhii Lysak, head of the Dnipro Regional Military Administration, an enemy drone hit one of the enterprises. A fire broke out there. Rescuers extinguished it.
The UAV also damaged a power line. 1500 families were left without electricity in the Pyatykhatska community of the Kamiansky district.
The occupants attacked the Nikopol community with artillery. A high school and 13 private houses were damaged. There were no casualties.
Mykolaiv
Vitalii Kim, the head of Mykolaiv regional administration, said that there were strikes in the region. There was no information on casualties or damage.
Lviv
On the morning of January 1, Lviv was attacked by Russian drones. UAV debris hit the Shukhevych Museum, causing a fire to break out in the building. Rescuers extinguished the fire.
According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, the Shukhevych Museum was destroyed.
The drone's wreckage also fell on the roof of the dormitory, which caught fire as a result. Firefighters worked at the scene. Afterward, Lviv Mayor Sadovyi posted a photo of the damage caused by the fire.

Khmelnytskyi region
According to the Khmelnytskyi Regional Military Administration, late in the evening, during an air raid, Air Defense Forces neutralized 6 enemy Shaheds.
However, as a result of the attack, a minor child was injured in the form of an open injury to the thoracic spine. She was hospitalized.
There was also a fire in a private garage, which was quickly extinguished.
