Explosion in Czech restaurant leaves victims and wounded
Six people have died as a result of an explosion in a restaurant in one of the cities in the Czech Republic. Another eight visitors were injured, Reuters informs.
An explosion occurred due to a propane-butane tank in a restaurant in the city of Most, located in the northwest of the Czech Republic. The explosion caused the building to catch fire.
In addition to the six fatalities, eight people were injured as a result of the explosion, which took place late in the evening on Saturday, January 11. Firefighters rescued one seriously injured guest, who was "trapped in the bathroom."
Thirty people were evacuated from the restaurant and surrounding buildings.
"According to initial information from witnesses, a heater overturned, causing a fire," the fire service stated.
The Czech Ministry of the Interior noted that the likely cause was a propane-butane heater that overturned in the restaurant’s front yard. At the time of the explosion, about 20 guests were inside the restaurant.
