An explosion occurred at the El Fargue ammunition factory on the outskirts of Granada, Spain, injuring three people, according to ABC.
The explosion occurred at around 9:00 a.m. in the gunpowder workshop. The area had restricted access, and safety regulations meant no one was supposed to be there.
According to preliminary information from the UGT trade union, the incident occurred during a scheduled test, and the area had been cordoned off in advance.
Emergency service personnel, TEDAX bomb disposal specialists, and National Police units arrived at the scene. Law enforcement officers established two security perimeters.
Traffic on the A-92 highway, which connects Granada with other regions, was not disrupted.
What is known about the injured and the damage
Three people were injured in the explosion. All three suffered minor hearing injuries and were taken to hospital for medical examinations.
Experts reported no serious or structural damage to nearby residential buildings.
The factory is owned by Slovak company MSM Group and employs around 300 people. Following the incident, the facility was shut down for the rest of the day. Since Russia launched its full-scale invasion, the facility has focused primarily on producing ammunition of various calibers and missile components for delivery to Ukraine.
