Oleksandr Musiienko, the head of the Center for Military-Legal Studies, in a comment to the RBC-Ukraine statea that the Ukrainian Defense Forces may continue a series of strikes similar to the attack on the arsenal in the city of Karachev in the Bryansk region. The defenders’ targets may not only be in Russia but also in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

He explained that if ballistic missiles were destroyed at the warehouse in the city of Karachev, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' operation can be considered successful. There are primarily two locations from which Russia launches ballistic missiles at Ukraine: Voronezh and Bryansk regions. According to the expert, most of the ballistic missiles targeting the Chernihiv, Sumy, or Kyiv regions, as well as Kyiv itself, are launched from the Bryansk region.

"So, if it’s confirmed that there were indeed ballistic missiles there, then this is undoubtedly a success. Because we understand perfectly well that the enemy places special hopes and reliance on ballistic missiles when conducting terrorist strikes on Ukrainian territory. And this speaks of a systematic approach. We can see that this isn’t the first arsenal to be hit by the Ukrainian Defense Forces. It’s all as predicted by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, after they provide information and reports on such strikes, saying, 'more to come.' And we are witnessing it," the expert stated.

In his opinion, there are two directions in which such strikes should be directed. One is the enemy’s deep rear and their arsenals, and the other is weapon depots on Russian territory, places of concentration of manpower, weapons, and equipment on the occupied territories—the so-called operational rears.

"These are the two targets that need to be heavily worked on to stop the enemy’s advances on the ground. And this is a very important task. These strikes, which we are observing, undoubtedly weaken and reduce the ability of Russian troops to conduct offensive operations. They do not completely deprive them of this ability, as we must understand that infantry still advances, for instance, 90% in the Pokrovske direction or slightly less in the Kurakhove direction. Places of infantry concentration also need to be destroyed," Musiienko explained.

He added that potentially, the targets of the Defense Forces could be the locations of occupiers, training centers, and places of their concentration, including on the occupied territories of Ukraine.

"I think we will see another round of such strikes, particularly on the occupied territories," the expert emphasized.

Strike on the warehouse in Karachev

Last night, on October 9, Ukrainian defenders attacked the 67th arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Defense in Karachev, Bryansk region. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed the strike on the warehouse.

In Karachev, guided aerial bombs and ammunition were stored, including some that Russia received from North Korea. Part of them was stored in the open air.

After the attack, a powerful fire with explosions broke out in the Bryansk region. Roads were blocked in the area.
