The vast majority of products we buy are not only useless but also harmful to our health. If you're not ready to give them up completely, you should at least minimize your consumption. Healthy eating expert and fitness trainer Yuriy Popko shared what foods to avoid and why on Instagram.

Sausages, wieners, and bratwursts

These products usually contain no meat. In addition, manufacturers often add preservatives, stabilizers, flavor enhancers, trans fats, sugar, and many other things to their products.

"Manufacturers state the percentage of meat in the product. But what quality is that meat? Sometimes it can be too minced. For smoked products, they use "liquid smoke," which has long been banned in civilized countries because it is poisonous," the expert says.

Mass-produced confectionery

The main ingredients in these products are sugar and cheap palm oil. Excess sugar in the body leads to inflammation and premature aging.

"And these products also contain a lot of empty calories and unhealthy fats," explains Popko.

Sweet water

These drinks contain a lot of sugar, which can have disastrous health consequences if abused.

"It's all sugar. There are as many as 22 tablespoons of sugar in 1 liter of such soda," the trainer notes.

Chips and French fries

Anything deep-fried is a powerful carcinogen that is very difficult to eliminate from the body because it cannot break down trans fats and this can lead to cancer.

"That's why you need to change the oil after every time you cook French fries," says Popko.

Yogurts with fillers

These yogurts also contain a lot of sugar, which is not healthy at all. It's better to choose a classic version without fillers or make your yogurt at home.

Mayonnaise

We are talking about store-bought mayonnaise. Industrial products often contain dyes, flavor enhancers, trans fats, and a lot of calories, which can lead to weight gain.

Crab sticks

"I don't think it's a secret that they have nothing to do with crabs. Otherwise, they would be much more expensive. These products are based on fish, which is usually cheap, but in fact, they contain a lot of fish waste, preservatives, flavors, and fillers," the expert explains.

Canned food of all kinds

This also includes the popular tuna, although it is one of the best choices among canned foods, especially in its own juice.

"If you do choose tuna, pay attention to where it is produced, because this fish can accumulate heavy metals and toxic substances," Popko notes.

Fruit juices and fresh juices

In fact, these drinks contain a small percentage of juice - the rest is sugar and flavorings. And what we think of as pulp is, at best, apple juice.

"As for fresh juices, it's better to eat whole fruit than the juice itself without fiber. Otherwise, you will get a large dose of glucose, which in turn provokes a sharp release of insulin," warns the expert.
