European Parliament votes today to grant Ukraine a €35 billion loan
During a plenary session of the European Parliament, debates have commenced regarding the provision of financial assistance to Ukraine. The discussion includes the EU's plan to allocate a loan of up to €35 billion to support Kyiv, citing the European Parliament.
This loan is part of a broader financial assistance package agreed upon by G7 countries and is expected to be repaid using frozen assets of the Russian Central Bank.
A vote in the European Parliament on this matter is scheduled for noon.
Loan for Ukraine
The visit of the President of the European Commission to Kyiv at the end of September was marked by an important decision: the EU will provide Ukraine with a €35 billion loan, which will be repaid using Russian assets. This move demonstrates the solidarity of the European Union with Ukraine and represents a new blow to the Russian economy.
According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the funds are intended to be directed towards the energy sector and defense.
On October 9, it was announced that the Council of the EU approved the European Commission's initiative for the loan to Ukraine.
