The European Commission has reacted to the words of the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, on the "unfounded and poorly prepared" proposal of the European Commission for Ukraine's accession to the EU. EC representative Ana Pisonero disagrees with his statements, describing Ukraine's work as "impressive" at a briefing.

"As you can imagine, we (the European Commission) stick to our proposal and recommendation. No, we do not think that it's unfounded," she says.

According to her, Ukraine has done "impressive work in speed and content," and that was highlighted by the President (of EC Ursula von der Leyen) many times.

"Obviously, now it will be for member states to take decisions on the basis of our enlargement package," Pisonero added.

What Orban said

In his statement on X, Orban claimed that the European Commission's proposal for Ukraine's accession to the EU is "unfounded and poorly prepared."

"There is no place for it on the agenda of the December EUCO," he added.
