European representatives will join talks aimed at ending the war in Ukraine, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi next week. France has already confirmed its participation in the meeting, Reuters reports.
French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot said that representatives of European countries would attend the upcoming talks.
"The Europeans will be well represented; France will be in Abu Dhabi to take part in these discussions," he said.
Barrot also noted that he could not yet name the person who would represent France at the talks.
"I can't tell you yet who will be representing France on this occasion, but France will certainly be there," he added.
Peace talks in Abu Dhabi
Ukraine and Russia are preparing for a new round of trilateral talks mediated by the United States. The meeting is scheduled to take place on November 10–11 in Abu Dhabi.
According to the US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, the parties plan to discuss post-war security arrangements, de-escalation, humanitarian issues, and further steps toward peace.
The Ukrainian negotiating team includes Head of the Presidential Office Kyrylo Budanov.
Moscow has also announced the composition of its negotiating team. It will once again be led by Russian President Vladimir Putin's aide, Vladimir Medinsky.
This time, however, the delegation also includes Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, senior General Staff representative Yuri Zhigarlovsky, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, and military intelligence chief Igor Kostyukov.
The Institute for the Study of War noted that some members of the delegation have previously pushed Kremlin demands or delayed the negotiation process. Analysts believe this may indicate that Moscow is not interested in constructive dialogue.
