Ukraine has received a new tranche of financial aid from the European Union under two programs. Meanwhile, Türkiye has announced its readiness to participate in Ukraine's security guarantees.

Ukraine receives new EU financial aid tranche

On August 22, Ukraine received a new tranche of financial assistance from the European Union under two programs. €1 billion was provided to Kyiv through ERA Loans, and an additional €3.05 billion was allocated under the Ukraine Facility, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

According to her, Ukraine received a total of €4.05 billion from its partners, of which:

  • €1 billion under ERA Loans, financing from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets
  • €3.05 billion under the Ukraine Facility for recovery and integration.

Türkiye wants to ensure Ukraine's maritime security within security guarantees

Türkiye declared its readiness to take part in Ukraine's security guarantees, taking responsibility for maritime security, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said.

"Türkiye declared that it wants to be part of Ukraine's security guarantees, being responsible for maritime security," the Ukrainian president explained.

Trump signals interest in talks with both Putin and Zelenskyy

US President Donald Trump said he would like to meet with Russia's Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump says, regarding the prospects of the peace process, that he would like to meet with both of them and that in two weeks it would become clear which direction he would take, adding that he could go in one direction or another.

Zelenskyy on meeting with Putin: 'Let's discuss the date and the place'

Ukraine does not want to impose additional conditions for the start of dialogue with Russian leader Vladimir Putin and is expecting an agreement on a concrete date and place for the meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated at a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, reports a correspondent of RBC-Ukraine.

He noted that he had spoken with US President Donald Trump about a trilateral meeting, which is necessary.

"If President Trump says that exactly in such a format, we can further talk, we are ready to support a bilateral track, and then a trilateral one. Let’s discuss the date and the place. This is all that I have at this time," he declared.
