EU’s top diplomat announces visit to Ukraine
High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, will visit Ukraine on a working visit in February of this year. He said this at a press conference in Brussels.
"I will make a visit to Ukraine in the first or second week of February," he stated, without specifying the exact date.
At the same time, Borrell has not revealed with whom he is planning to meet during his visit to Ukraine.
"The ministers agreed that this is not the moment to weaken our support to Ukraine; on the contrary, it is the moment to do more and faster, with financial resources, military equipment, training for soldiers and all Ukrainians need to defend," he said.
Issue of EU military assistance to Ukraine
It was previously reported that the European Union is working on a new plan to provide tens of billions of dollars in military assistance to Ukraine. These actions are initiated as part of the update of the critically important aid program, as some countries block funding of 50 billion euros.
According to The Wall Street Journal, such a plan envisages that over 20 billion euros of EU funds will be returned to countries over the next four years in exchange for their assistance to Ukraine. It emerged after a week of debates between the EU and its member states.
