EU's Borrell makes surprise visit to Odesa
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell arrived in Odesa today for an unannounced visit, according to his Twitter.
"Odesa is a beautiful historic city. It should be in the headlines for its vibrant culture and spirit," he tweeted.
Instead, according to Borrell, Odesa marks the news as a frequent target of Putin’s war.

Shelling of Odesa
Over recent months, Russians have been launching rockets and drones more frequently at the southern cities of Ukraine. This is largely linked to Russia's withdrawal from the grain deal. Russians are trying to destroy more and more grain crops to hinder Ukraine from sending humanitarian aid to countries in need.
Odesa is increasingly suffering from Russian strikes. On the night of September 25, the Russians launched a combined attack on Ukraine. Explosions were heard in the Odesa region and in Kryvyi Rih.
The occupiers shelled the port infrastructure of the Odesa region and in Odesa itself, the seaport was damaged, a fire broke out in the building of the nearby hotel, which is currently not operational, and grain warehouses were also destroyed.
Occupiers launched 12 Kalibr cruise missiles, 2 P-800 Oniks anti-ship missiles, and 19 Shahed drones at Ukraine. The air defense forces shot down 30 enemy targets.
