EU in talks on 18th sanctions package against Russia - RBC-Ukraine sources reveal details

Discussions of a new package of sanctions by the European Union against Russia are taking place today, July 4, at the level of the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU member states, RBC-Ukraine source in the European Commission reports.
"Discussions of the 18th package are ongoing today at the level of COREPER (the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU member states, - ed.). Possibly, more news will appear by the afternoon," the source stated.
Sanctions against Russia: 18th package
During the EU summit held at the end of June, the member states of the union were unable to adopt the 18th package of sanctions against Russia due to Slovakia's veto. The restrictions targeted Moscow's energy revenues, banks, and the military industry.
After that, Germany called on the USA and EU countries to support the sanctions package, as this would mean strong support for Kyiv. In particular, the European Commission also called for imposing the restrictions, since the enemy's economy overheats.
Yesterday, July 3, Radio Free Europe correspondent Rikard Jozwiak said that the restrictions could be adopted in the near future, as an agreement had been reached with Slovakia.
