EU Commission head to present plan for rearmament of Europe tomorrow

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen is planning to present a plan to rearm Europe. This will take place tomorrow, March 4, The Guardian reports.
According to the head of the European Commission, the plan will include strengthening the defense industry and military potential of the EU member states.
She noted that Europe needs a large-scale defense strengthening, no doubt about it.
“We want lasting peace, but lasting peace can only be built on strength, and strength begins with strengthening ourselves,” von der Leyen added.
Plan to strengthen EU defense
Earlier, Bloomberg cited sources as saying that the plan of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen would consist of 3 elements.
In particular, it is planned to approve the easing of fiscal rules, which will allow EU member states to increase their defense spending.
The EC President is also likely to propose the creation of a new joint instrument that will help ensure defense spending at the EU level.
Thus, it is planned to ensure the allocation of hundreds of billions of euros for additional defense funding.
Earlier, Latvian Prime Minister Evika Siliņa said that Europe would not be able to continue to help Ukraine if it did not increase its defense spending.
