The European Union will soon launch a program that will allow Ukraine to gain a technological edge on the battlefield, according to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

"Soon, we will launch a new programme to give Ukraine the tech edge it needs on the battlefield," the European Commission President said.

She noted that the partners are working together on Ukraine’s future as a European Union member state.

"This is what we mean when we say: today, tomorrow, and for as long as it takes," Ursula von der Leyen said.

EU aid for Ukraine

Today, it was reported that the European Commission has transferred the ninth tranche of macro-financial aid to Ukraine, totaling €4 billion. Since the start of the war, EU support now approaches €178 billion.

The European Commission has also agreed with Ukraine to allocate €2 billion for drone production. The funding is intended to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and advance high-tech development.

In addition, according to the EU plan, Ukraine will begin receiving reparations from Russia in 2026. These will be structured as a loan of $140 billion from the EU, funded by frozen Russian assets.

Roksolana Pidlasa, chair of the Verkhovna Rada’s Budget Committee, stated that the reparations loan from frozen Russian assets could become Ukraine’s main source of support in 2026.
