Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Mihal raised the issue of the EU's readiness to help Ukraine. In response, there was a deathly silence, Politico informs.

According to an anonymous source from the media outlet, Mihal raised the issue of whether the EU could replace or somehow compensate for the cessation of military aid and intelligence from the US during closed-door discussions.

According to an EU official who was directly familiar with these discussions, the prime minister asked whether Europe could manage on its own.

However, the response was silence.

The outlet notes that EU countries have collectively committed to providing Ukraine with more financial and military support than the US since Russia's full-scale invasion three years ago.

This support will continue in the coming months, with approximately 30 billion euros in financial aid planned for 2025 through loans backed by frozen Russian assets.

Recently, the leaders of the Baltic countries discussed peace in Ukraine with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Among them was Prime Minister Mihal.

This past weekend, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer organized a summit on Ukraine. The meeting of European leaders was meant to demonstrate unified and firm support for Ukraine.

However, later the media reported that the Baltic countries were very dissatisfied that the UK did not invite their leaders to join the Ukraine summit. Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia were excluded.

Additionally, on Thursday, March 6, European leaders met again, this time in Brussels. A special EU leaders' summit was convened, focusing on European defense and Ukraine, with Zelenskyy also participating.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine and Europe met to prepare a plan for sustainable peace.
