Russian dictator Vladimir Putin wants to establish a new security architecture in Europe, and with his aggression expand the sphere of influence of the Russian Federation, says Ants Kiviselg in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

The head of Estonian intelligence agrees with the opinion that the destruction of Ukraine and the establishment of a new world order is the main goal of the head of the Kremlin.

"What Putin said in December 2021 is what he truly wants (referring to a speech in which Putin issued an ultimatum to the West and expressed concerns about NATO supplying weapons to Ukraine - Ed.). He wants NATO to stop expanding and roll back to its 1997 boundaries," Kiviselg said.

The head of Estonian intelligence also added that there is no indication that the Kremlin has changed such plans.

"I believe he wants to establish a new security architecture in Europe. Russia wants to expand its sphere of influence and increase it. In Russia's view, smaller countries should not have their own will, and they should not have the right to say what they want," Kiviselg said.

He specified that the Kremlin's similar policy of aggression is directed against Western values, so democratic countries are resisting

"There is no scenario in which we would want to live like Russia," Kiviselg emphasized.

Estonia's aid to Ukraine

From the first days of the full-scale war, Estonia condemned the Russian Federation, provided military and financial aid to Ukraine, and accepted thousands of refugees. The President and Prime Minister of Estonia were among the first to visit Ukraine last spring.

In addition, Estonia transfers more than 1% of its GDP to help Ukraine.

Earlier the government of Estonia approved a new package of military aid for Ukraine, which includes ammunition of 155 mm caliber.

On October 12, it was revealed that the government of Estonia approved the use of frozen assets of the Russian Federation to help Ukraine.

Recently the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia, Margus Tsahkna, stated that the Russian troops, which previously threatened Estonia, were eliminated by the Defense Forces of Ukraine after a large-scale invasion.
