Estonia ready to involve military in deterring Russia in Ukraine - Prime Minister

Estonia is ready to provide Ukraine with a combat unit and officers to deter Russia. Prime Minister Michal announced his participation in the Coalition of the Willing along with Britain and France, according to the Estonian government.
Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal said that the country is ready to make a real contribution to the deterrent forces of the Coalition of the Willing formed by the UK and France to guarantee Ukraine's security.
According to him, Estonia is considering the possibility of providing a company-sized combat unit of ground troops, training instructors, and staff officers.
"We will, of course, ask for a mandate from the Riigikogu before dispatching the unit," says Michal.
He emphasized that NATO membership remains the best guarantee of Ukraine's security, but it is important to ensure practical defense mechanisms before it is realized.
"An independent, sovereign Ukraine belonging to the European family is the best strategic guarantee against Moscow’s imperialism for all of us. We must show that we can put good ideas into action," the Estonian Prime Minister added.
Coalition of the Willing on Ukraine
On March 27, France hosted another summit of the Coalition of the Willing. This is a group of countries that have agreed to support Ukraine in a full-scale war with Russia. Among the initiatives of the allies is the possible sending of troops to Ukraine.
