The Estonian government plans to cease funding Russian-language education in the country and aims to transition entirely to Estonian-language education, according to the Prime Minister of Estonia, Kaja Kallas.

Parliament members posed 11 questions regarding various aspects of transitioning to a unified Estonian school. Kallas has clarified the situation and the government's actions during the transition to a unified Estonian school.

"Indeed, what is written in the constitution is that the state language of Estonia is Estonian, and everyone has the right to study in Estonian," emphasizes the Prime Minister.

Kallas has stated that the government has no intention of russifying Estonian children. She adds that the government intends to cease funding Russian-language education and transition to a unified Estonian-language education.

She also emphasizes that the goal of transitioning to a unified Estonian-language education is to have all Estonians in a single information space, mastering the Estonian language in Estonia, and increasing the number of people using the Estonian language.

Estonia and its attitude toward Russia

Yesterday, Kallas stated that Europe had three to five years to prepare for Russia becoming a serious military threat on NATO's eastern flank.

It was recently reported that Estonia had prepared a military strategy plan for Western countries to assist Ukraine in winning the war. The plan is designed for three years.
