The Turkish president said that efforts aimed at ending the war through a "just and lasting peace" are valuable, noting that progress can be made in areas that offer practical benefits for both sides.

He also said that introducing a limited ceasefire, focused primarily on energy facilities and ports, could be useful.

"Ankara is monitoring the negotiation process aimed at ending the war and is ready to hold talks in all formats within this framework," Recep Tayyip Erdoğan noted.

Meeting between Putin and Erdoğan

As reported, on December 12, Erdoğan and Putin met on the sidelines of the International Forum on Peace and Trust in Ashgabat, the capital of Turkmenistan.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said that Putin and Erdoğan discussed the European Union’s alleged intention to carry out a "grand fraud" involving Russian assets.

Peskov also stated that "the leaders exchanged views on the Ukrainian issue."

After finishing his conversation with Erdoğan, Putin separately held a meeting with Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

Earlier, in November, the leaders of Türkiye and Russia held a phone call during which they discussed issues related to ending the war in Ukraine. However, it remains unknown whether they talked about restoring the grain corridor.
