Erdoğan expresses hope for Türkiye's participation in Peace Summit
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that his country is ready to participate in the second Peace Summit organized by Ukraine. He believes that the war can be ended through diplomacy, according to Hürriyet.
"We have said that we are ready to participate in this conference... We hope that we, as Türkiye, will take part in establishing peace in the region. We are likely the country most committed to a just peace in the Ukrainian-Russian war," Erdoğan said.
According to him, Türkiye seeks peace, and the war can be ended through diplomacy and dialogue, provided that both the warring parties and other participants believe that problems can be resolved this way.
"Unfortunately, we are not close to that at the moment. We see the fact that we can negotiate with both the Ukrainian and Russian sides as an advantage on the path to peace. If we can go through this difficult path and achieve our goal, we will do a great service to humanity," the Turkish President said.
Zelenskyy's victory plan and the second Peace Summit
Ukraine plans to hold a second Peace Summit soon, following the development of a joint peace plan based on Ukraine's 10-point Peace Formula. The meeting is likely to take place by the end of 2024.
Recently, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that the peace plan is ready, and the first to see it will be US President Joe Biden, with whom Zelenskyy will meet during his visit to the US next week.
