At the Parliamentary NATO Summit, the topic of ending the war in Ukraine was raised again. Türkiye called for more active peace efforts, according to a statement by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, CNN Türk reports.

According to Erdoğan, the settlement of the war must take place through dialogue.

"I want to especially emphasize that in the near future we must achieve results on resolving the Russian–Ukrainian war through dialogue," he stressed.

The Turkish president noted that Ankara is ready to continue supporting peace efforts.

"As an ally that can negotiate with both sides, initiate processes that deliver results, and, thanks to its fair stance, has gained the trust of both parties, we will continue to actively contribute to efforts to achieve peace," Erdoğan said.

He added that Euro-Atlantic security is undergoing a historic turning point. In his view, wars, terrorism, crises, and illegal migration are forcing allies to reconsider their approach to security.

"We are in the midst of a period of uncertainty where tension is replacing stability and predictability is increasingly diminishing… In the current conditions, it is even more important to preserve NATO’s deterrence capability and strengthen solidarity among allies," the Turkish leader added.

Recently, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that Ankara is ready to once again serve as a platform for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.

According to him, the diplomatic process has reached an impasse, so Türkiye is calling on the parties to return to dialogue and confirms its readiness to host their delegations.
