Billionaire Elon Musk said that he had several times declined invitations from Jeffrey Epstein to visit his island and a number of other proposals from the sex offender, according to Bloomberg.
Yesterday, the US Department of Justice made public a new batch of documents in the Epstein case. They revealed correspondence with Musk regarding a possible trip to the private island of the scandal-ridden billionaire.
The correspondence dates back to 2012 — that is, to the period when Epstein had already been convicted of involving minors in prostitution and had served part of his sentence. At the same time, it remains unclear whether the trip ultimately took place.
Musk himself wrote on X that he “perfectly understood that some emails” with Jeffrey Epstein could be misinterpreted and used to smear his name.
“No one pushed harder than me to have the Epstein files released, and I’m glad that has finally happened,” Musk said.
He also claims that he barely corresponded with Epstein and had previously declined invitations to visit his island or fly on the “Lolita Express” (the informal name of Epstein’s private jet).
Musk also added that it is more important to him that the United States hold accountable “those who committed serious crimes together with Epstein.”
Background
On December 10, 2025, a US court authorized the publication of materials from the investigation into the Jeffrey Epstein case.
On the 19th of the same year, the Department of Justice began publishing a large batch of files, including photos of Michael Jackson, Donald Trump, Bill Clinton, and others with the criminal. These materials are expected to expose Epstein’s connections in politics, finance, and the media.
The current US president, Donald Trump, is not a defendant in criminal cases. According to him, he cut off contact with Epstein long before his arrest.
It is worth noting that yesterday, January 30, the US Department of Justice published more than 3 million additional pages of materials. They included mentions of “orgy parties” involving Trump.
