Enhanced graphics and more: New specifications of PlayStation 5 Pro
Recently, a lot of information about the PlayStation 5 Pro gaming console has appeared on the Internet. All this information was obtained from unofficial sources, but there is no doubt about Sony's intentions to release an enhanced version of the PS5, reports The Verge, an American computer technology website.
Detailed specifications of the PlayStation 5 Pro
According to the source, the next model, PlayStation 5 Pro, known under the codename Trinity, will feature a more powerful graphics chip and the same central processor (8 cores, 16 threads, Zen 2), but with the ability to operate at an increased frequency of 3.85 GHz (+10 percent).
Sony predicts that the rendering of the graphics chip on the PS5 Pro will be approximately 45 percent faster than on the standard PlayStation 5 and will triple in TFLOPs: up to 33.5 teraflops compared to 10.23 in the current model.
Additionally, the GPU will use faster system memory to support powerful ray-tracing architectures. While the memory of the standard PS5 operates at a speed of 448 GB/s, that of the PS5 Pro will increase by 28 percent to 576 GB/s.
Games will be able to use an additional 1.2 GB of system memory, resulting in an increase in total memory to 13.7 GB compared to the 12.5 GB allocated for base PS5 games.
The increase in speed and memory capacity will provide support for Sony PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR), which is an alternative to Nvidia's DLSS and AMD's FSR technologies for improving frame rates and image quality.
An internal document of the company notes that Trinity is a high-quality version of the PlayStation 5. Sony plans to continue selling the standard PS5 after the launch of the new console, expecting game developers to have a single package to support both consoles and existing games can be upgraded to improve performance.
Developers can already order test kits for upgrading to Trinity Enhanced (PS5 Pro Enhanced), and Sony expects games certified in August 2024 to be compatible with the PS5 Pro. The console is scheduled for release during the holiday period of 2024.
