The Embassy of Ukraine has already started its operations in Accra, the capital of Ghana, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

The embassy's opening was fulfilled by the President of Ukraine's instruction to expand its diplomatic presence in Africa.

"Last year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy tasked the Ukrainian diplomatic service with opening new embassies in Africa. I am pleased to announce that the first one has already started its work in Ghana. We will continue to open the next ones," said Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba.

According to him, this is part of Ukraine's strategy for developing relations with African countries, the Ukrainian-African Renaissance, and countering Russian influence worldwide.

The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that expanding diplomatic presence will also open up new opportunities for the Ukrainian state, businesses, and citizens.

Before the appointment of an ambassador, the Ukrainian embassy in Ghana will function at the level of a charge d'affaires. The institution will perform various functions: developing political contacts, strengthening economic ties, and providing consular services for Ukrainians and Ghanaians.

According to Kuleba, the following countries where Ukrainian embassies will be opened are Rwanda, Mozambique, and Botswana. In total, Ukraine plans to open ten new embassies in Africa.
