'Effective aircraft': Air Force comments on transfer of Mirage 2000 to Ukraine
The French Mirage 2000 multipurpose aircraft, which Ukraine will receive, is effective, but now the priority is the supply of American F-16s, states the speaker of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Illia Yevlash.
He noted that the Air Force cannot comment yet on the statement of French President Emmanuel Macron regarding the transfer of Mirage 2000 to Ukrainian defenders.
"We are using the resources we have. However, we are currently counting, of course, on the F-16, which is our main aircraft that will soon arrive in Ukraine and will be able to effectively carry out combat missions," emphasized the Air Force spokesperson.
Yevlash added that supplying other fighters to Ukraine in the future is not ruled out.
"Like all modern aircraft, the Mirage 2000 can effectively perform assigned combat tasks. These tasks can include both air and ground strikes. The aircraft is quite modern, but the F-16 remains a priority," he clarified.
