Earthquake shakes Ukraine's Poltava at night: Details

On the night of July 1, in Poltava region near the village of Karpusi, about 10 kilometers from the regional center, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.1 occurred, the website of the Main Center of Special Monitoring reports.
"On July 1, 2025, at 01:23:29, the Main Center of Special Monitoring registered an earthquake in the area of the village of Karpusi, Poltava district, Poltava region, with a magnitude of 3.1 (on the Richter scale), at a depth of 7 kilometers," the Main Center of Special Monitoring noted.
Analysts also added that according to the generally accepted classification of earthquakes, the tremors recorded at night are classified as imperceptible.
Earthquakes in Ukraine
Earthquakes of small magnitude from time to time occur in Ukraine. Most often, they are recorded in the Carpathians and Pre-Carpathian regions. For example, on May 31, 2025, the Main Center of Special Monitoring recorded two earthquakes at once in the territory of the Zakarpattia region.
Both tremors occurred at a depth of 5 km and had a magnitude of about 2.0 on the Richter scale. The source of the earthquake was located in the area of a village in the Bohdan rural community of Rakhiv district, Zakarpattia region. In March, an earthquake was also recorded in the Ternopil region.
Earlier, on February 1, residents of Poltava reported on social media about noticeable tremors on the upper floors of buildings. The Main Center of Special Monitoring confirmed that an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.67 occurred near Poltava.
