From the very first days of September, Ukrainians will experience significant fluctuations in the magnetic field. Scientists warn about several powerful bursts that can affect both technology and people. Here is the forecast for geomagnetic activity and how to navigate these days without compromising your health.

Forecast of magnetic storms at the beginning of September

On September 1-2, Earth will be hit by two combined coronal mass ejections from the Sun, which scientists call "cannibal CME".

NOAA predicts magnetic storms of G2-G3 level. These are moderate to strong disturbances (from Kp-5 to Kp-7). During this time, communication disruptions, GPS failures are possible. In northern and even mid-latitudes, it will be possible to observe the aurora.

On September 3, the situation will stabilize slightly, but the day will not be completely calm. The residual influence of solar activity will remain.

From September 4 to 6, noticeable disturbances are expected again. The level of storms may rise to Kp 6. Therefore, Ukrainians should be prepared for a repeated deterioration in well-being.

How the body reacts

Doctors emphasize in a PubMed study that people with chronic cardiovascular diseases, those with hypertension, meteosensitive individuals, and those with sleep problems feel the influence of storms the most. On days of increased activity, the following symptoms are possible:

  • Headache and dizziness
  • Sudden pressure fluctuations
  • Irritability and anxiety
  • Problems with concentration
  • General weakness and quick fatigue
  • Increased blood pressure
  • Disruption of circadian rhythms

How to ease the condition during magnetic storms

  • Drink more clean water. This helps the body adapt more easily.
  • Avoid overexertion and heavy physical work.
  • Reduce the amount of coffee and alcohol.
  • Eat a balanced diet, avoid excessive salty, fried, and unhealthy food.
  • Take walks in the fresh air and ventilate rooms.
  • Avoid stress and emotional overload.
  • Try to rest more and sleep at least 7-9 hours.
  • Keep handy the medications prescribed by your doctor if you have heart or blood pressure problems.
