Oncologist Dr Jiri Kubes has identified early and lesser-known signs that could indicate head and neck cancer - a term used for a range of malignant tumors that develop in the nose, throat, ears, larynx, reports Daily Express.

The doctor advises not to ignore certain symptoms and changes in the body, as they could indicate the development of tumors in the neck or head. If you notice any of these signs, it's important not to turn to self-treatment but to seek medical attention.

The doctor mentioned a common symptom of ear congestion. It's an alarming sign, especially if the problem occurs very often.

Pain in the ears should also not be ignored, as it could also indicate potential problems or even oncology.

Other signs that may indicate cancer include:

  • swelling in the neck and pain upon palpation
  • pain in the gums
  • ulcers, white or red patches in the mouth
  • toothache
  • throat pain lasting more than two weeks
  • sudden change in voice, hoarseness.

According to the doctor, diagnosing the tumor as early as possible increases significantly the chances of recovery compared to when cancer is not detected immediately. Therefore, the expert advises to monitor carefully one's health and not to ignore sudden changes in the body.
