Russia is close to completing the phased delivery of drones, medicines, and food supplies to Iran, according to the Financial Times.

According to two sources familiar with intelligence, senior Iranian and Russian officials began secret discussions on drone deliveries just a few days after the Israeli and US attack on Tehran. The processing of requests began in early March and was expected to be completed by the end of the month.

One Western law enforcement official said they have not yet determined the exact class of drones that Russia agreed to send to Iran this month. However, they added that Moscow could only supply models such as the Geran-2, which are based on the Iranian Shahed-136.

Sources also say that Moscow maintains close ties with Tehran and is providing its ally with crucial support, including satellite imagery, targeting data, and intelligence.

The Financial Times notes that arms deliveries, particularly drones, would be the first indication that Moscow is willing to provide Iran with lethal support since the start of the war.

A senior Western official says Moscow is intervening not only to strengthen Iran’s combat capabilities but also to ensure broader political stability for the Tehran regime.

Aid to Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recently stated publicly that Russia and China are not denying Tehran military assistance and remain the country’s strategic partners in its confrontation with the US and Israel.

Additionally, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said several days ago that Ukrainian intelligence has information confirming Russian assistance to Iran in the form of intelligence data.

In an interview with Reuters, he also stated that Russia had attempted to blackmail the US by offering to halt intelligence sharing with Iran in exchange for stopping American intelligence support to Ukraine.
