Drones hit Mykolaiv overnight, fire erupts in suburb and one wounded

In the early hours of July 8, Russian drones attacked the city of Mykolaiv. As a result of the strike, a fire broke out in the suburbs, and one person was injured, according to the Telegram channels of Mykolaiv Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych and the head of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Vitalii Kim.
During the night from Monday to Tuesday, July 8, explosions were heard in Mykolaiv shortly after an air raid alert was announced. A fire subsequently broke out on the outskirts of the city.
At around 2:29 a.m. Kyiv time, the mayor reported an explosion and urged residents to remain in shelters, as the threat of further drone attacks remained active.
"Another explosion heard in Mykolaiv! The drone threat is still ongoing," the message said.
Earlier, the Air Force reported that strike UAVs were heading toward the region.
"A group of strike UAVs from the Black Sea is moving in the direction of the Mykolaiv region," the military reported.
Later, at 3:08 a.m., Vitalii Kim clarified that the shelling had caused a fire in the suburbs, and emergency services were currently working at the scene.
At the time of publication, the air raid alert in Mykolaiv had already been lifted.
Just two days earlier, on the night of July 6, Russian forces shelled the port infrastructure of Mykolaiv, damaging warehouses and power lines.
Meanwhile, on the morning of Monday, July 7, a fire broke out at an ammunition storage site in the Mykolaiv region. The blaze was likely caused by dry grass catching fire. The military command has established a commission to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
