Last night, the Sverdlov Plant in the Nizhny Novgorod region of Russia was hit by unknown drones, according to the ASTRA Telegram channel and the governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Gleb Nikitin. It is one of the largest manufacturers of explosives in Russia,

At around 2:30 a.m. local time, residents of Dzerzhinsk began reporting explosions in the city. According to preliminary data, between 25 and 30 explosions were heard within an hour. Locals also reported seeing bright flashes in the sky and hearing loud noises that set off car alarms.

According to them, the drones targeted the local Sverdlov Plant, which is part of Russia's military-industrial complex. A fire likely broke out there.

Regional governor Nikitin said that Russian air defense forces repelled an attack by 20 drones in the industrial zone of Dzerzhinsk. One person was reportedly injured.

According to him, falling debris also caused several local fires in the private sector, which were extinguished. The windows of residential buildings and the roof of a gas station were damaged, but no damage was caused to industrial facilities.

The enterprise is one of Russia's leading manufacturers of industrial explosives, transmission charges for the mining industry, perforating charges for oil and gas production, as well as equipment for seismic and geophysical work.

Earlier, it was reported that the plant also manufactures aerial bombs, warheads for anti-tank cumulative guided missiles, and warheads for anti-aircraft missile systems. The plant is on the sanctions list of the European Union, Ukraine, the United States, Great Britain, Japan, and Switzerland.

According to RBC-Ukraine, in October last year, drones belonging to Ukraine's Defense Intelligence and the Security Service of Ukraine attacked the Sverdlov plant. At that time, the hexogen and octogen production workshop was damaged.

In early April 2025, at least three drones attacked the plant, damaging a pipeline trestle and two workshops.
