Drones hit 2 Russian cities overnight: Fire breaks out at port and concert is halted

On the night of September 9–10, the Russian cities of Sochi and Makhachkala in Dagestan came under a massive drone attack. The strikes caused fires and other damage, according to OSINT sources and Russian Telegram channels.
Sochi under attack
Starting on the evening of September 9, at around 9:50 p.m., videos showing fires and air defense activity in Sochi began circulating widely on social media.
At the same time, local channels reported that the city was under attack by drones and unmanned boats. The exact consequences of the attacks are unknown, but the Operational Headquarters of Krasnodar Krai said that a fire broke out on the waterfront in Sochi as a result of strikes by unmanned boats.
In addition, Russian singer Tatiana Bulanova, who has openly supported Russia's war against Ukraine since 2022, was performing at the Festivalny concert hall that evening. Due to the drone attack, her concert ended early.
In the morning, the head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, wrote on Telegram that many members of the Russian elite are currently in Sochi.
According to him, tonight once again proves that Russian President Vladimir Putin cannot guarantee the safety of the elites.

Makhachkala
Closer to morning, at around 4 a.m., Dagestan, specifically the city of Makhachkala, came under drone attack.
During the attack, Russians complained of explosions and also reported smoke in the port area, while air defenses were operating over the Avar Theater.
In the morning, the head of the republic said that port infrastructure and a theater in Makhachkala had been damaged. He also confirmed that there was a fire at the port.

Sea of Azov
This morning, NASA FIRMS detected a fire in the Sea of Azov near Kerch. OSINT sources suggest that a vessel from Russia's shadow fleet is on fire.

Other attacks
On the night of September 8, drones attacked the Saratov oil refinery. Against this backdrop, residents reported explosions and a fire, and the regional governor soon confirmed infrastructure damage.
It also became known yesterday that Ukraine successfully attacked the Novy Urengoy condensate treatment plant, located approximately 3,000 km from Ukraine.
