On the night of May 31, Russia attacked Ukraine with 229 strike drones from multiple directions. Air defense forces managed to shoot down most of the enemy drones, but there were still impacts.

The Russians attacked with 229 strike drones of the Shahed type (including jet-powered versions), Gerbera, Italmas, and decoy drones of the Parody type from the following directions: Orel, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, Primorsko-Akhtarsk — Russia; Hvardiiske — temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

The air attack was repelled by aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

According to preliminary data, as of 08:30, air defense shot down or suppressed 212 enemy drones of the Shahed, Gerbera, Italmas types and other UAVs in the north and east of the country.

Impacts of 14 strike drones were recorded across 11 locations, as well as the fall of downed drones (debris) at 5 locations.

"The attack is ongoing, several enemy UAVs are still in Ukrainian airspace. Follow safety rules!" the Air Force warned.

Russia preparing a massive strike

As a reminder, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia may once again be preparing a massive strike on Ukraine. According to him, intelligence data points to this.

Later that same day, Ukraine's Ministry of Defense also urged people not to ignore air raid alerts throughout May 30–31. Residents of Kyiv were especially urged to remain alert, as Kyiv Day is traditionally celebrated on May 31.
