It is reported that drones attacked the industrial zone of the Morozova settlement, where a strategic explosives production plant is located. This information has already been confirmed by the governor of the Leningrad region, Alexander Drozdenko, on his Telegram channel.
The official stated that Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down seven drones. Debris fell in the Vsevolozhsky district, where damage was recorded.
In the industrial zone of the Morozova settlement, the roof of one of the buildings was damaged. Authorities officially claim that the structure was not in use.
However, there were casualties. Two people were injured and were urgently hospitalized at the nearest hospital.
What exactly the drones could have targeted
The target of the attack may have been an important military plant, according to the ASTRA agency. The Morozova settlement is home to the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Morozov Plant." It is a large enterprise of Russia's defense-industrial complex.
The plant specializes in the production of explosives. Components for ammunition for the Russian army are produced there.
What is known about drone and missile attacks deep inside Russia
Thanks to drones, the Armed Forces of Ukraine managed to destroy 40% of the capacity of Russia's Primorsk port on the Baltic Sea. It is used for oil storage.
In addition, in just the last week of March, Russia's seaborne exports of raw materials collapsed, leading to losses of more than $1 billion in revenue for the Kremlin.
In temporarily occupied Crimea, a drone attack led to a mass blackout in many areas of the peninsula. Dzhankoi, Krasnoperekopsk, Armyansk, Saky, and Feodosia were left without electricity.
