Explosions were heard in the area of Moscow and the surrounding region, Russia, during the night of May 29 amid air defense activity triggered by the detection of drones. Operations at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport were temporarily suspended, according to Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, Russian social media channels, and the outlet Astra.

These explosions in the Moscow region come after a massive drone attack the previous night, which caused loud blasts in various parts of the Moscow region, including the capital of the Russia.

According to Russian social media channels, residents of Odintsovo (the administrative center of the Odintsovo district of Moscow region) reported explosions during the night. Loud noises were also reported in the city of Aprelevka (in the Naro-Fominsk urban district of Moscow region) and in the city of Zvenigorod (also part of the Odintsovo district).

According to the Telegram channel Mash, drones were reportedly detected in the region amid the explosions, which propagandists have already definitively labeled as Ukrainian.

In addition, Rosaviatsiya announced the implementation of the so-called Carpet Plan at Moscow's Vnukovo Airport, reportedly due to an aerial threat. Russian media report that 14 departing flights and 20 arriving flights were delayed.

In a Telegram post around 2 a.m., the mayor of Moscow claimed that air defense forces had allegedly repelled an attack by three UAVs that targeted the Moscow region.

He also stated that, according to preliminary information, there were no serious damages or casualties, and that emergency service specialists are working at the site where debris fell.

Later, Sobyanin added that as a result of repelling the enemy drone attack, there are no serious damages or casualties at the building on Vernadsky Avenue, according to preliminary data.

This statement from the mayor of the Russian capital came amid online reports of damage to a residential building in the Mirax Park complex in southwestern Moscow, which was allegedly hit by a drone.

In addition, by Wednesday morning, it became known that a drone strike in the city of Dubna, Moscow region, had hit a drone manufacturing facility — the Kronshtadt plant.

By the afternoon of May 28, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that during the previous night, the Defense Forces successfully struck several important military-industrial facilities in the Moscow region, namely:
