Overnight on March 16, Russia's Krasnodar region came under a massive drone attack. The main target was the oil depot, the regional operational headquarters reported.
So, the first reports of explosions near the local oil depot appeared in local Telegram channels around 2 a.m. Residents of Labinsk shared videos capturing the moment of impact and the subsequent large fire in the industrial area of the city.
Operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region later confirmed the incident, but, as is typical for Russian authorities, said fire was caused by "falling debris of downed UAV."
"A fire broke out at an oil depot in the industrial zone of Labinsk as a result of a UAV attack. According to preliminary information, no casualties were reported. Four fire crews, personnel of fire and rescue units, and specialists from the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry in the Krasnodar region are involved in firefighting," an official statement said.
At present, open flames are observed on the territory of the oil depot. A column of black smoke can be seen several kilometers from the site.

Why Labinsk became a target
The Krasnodar region is a strategic hub for the Russian army. Oil depots in this region act as fuel stations for Russian troops fighting in southern Ukraine. Therefore, disabling facilities in Labinsk, Tuapse, or Novorossiysk significantly complicates refueling of enemy equipment and aviation, creating a fuel shortage directly on the front line.
Repeated strikes on Russian regions
Overnight on March 15, the Russian city of Belgorod came under missile attack. The city experienced disruptions in electricity, water, and heating supply.
In addition, drones attacked the Krasnodar region, where the Tikhoretsk oil hub was damaged. Authorities said damage occurred after debris from a downed drone allegedly fell onto the territory of an oil depot.
Earlier, on March 12 this year, drones also struck the Tikhoretsk oil pumping station in the Krasnodar region. A large-scale fire broke out as a result of an attack.
