Drone attack hits Voronezh region, cutting electricity and disrupting rail service

An energy facility was damaged following an attack by unidentified drones in Russia’s Voronezh region, leaving several villages without electricity, according to the Telegram channel of Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev.
The drone strike damaged the energy facility, causing power outages in several villages and delays to a number of passenger trains.
Preliminary reports indicate that there are no casualties.
The threat of drone strikes remains in two districts of the Voronezh region, and a drone attack alert is in effect across the entire region.
According to RBC-Ukraine, on the night of August 17, an unknown drone attacked a railway station in the Voronezh region. A track fitter was injured, and power lines at the station were damaged by drone debris, causing delays to several trains.
In Voronezh city, 10 cars, the glazing of one apartment, and a technical floor were damaged.
That same night, explosions were reported across the Voronezh region, with residents noting the activity of air defense systems. In total, six explosions were recorded in the region.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, fires and explosions have periodically occurred at Russian factories, often linked to safety violations or drone strikes.
