On Sunday, North Korea ordered artillery units near the border with South Korea to be ready to fire. In this way, the country is responding to the possible entrance of South Korean drones into Pyongyang, reports Yonhap.

According to the agency, the day before, the General Staff of the People's Army (DPRK) issued a preliminary operational order to artillery units near the border and units performing important firing missions to be on full combat alert.

“Eight artillery brigades, fully armed in accordance with the wartime deployment of forces and means, should be put on alert by 20:00 on the 13th, and various projects to ensure operational security should be completed,” the order said.

The General Staff also ordered units at every level to prepare thorough countermeasures, assuming a situation where a South Korean drone crosses the border again and strikes the facility.

Earlier, North Korea claimed that South Korea had launched drones toward Pyongyang three times this month. In particular, on Friday, the DPRK Foreign Ministry reported that South Korean drones carrying leaflets were seen flying over Pyongyang at night on October 3, as well as on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. In addition, the ministry threatened to use force if such flights were repeated.
