North Korean military, which was involved in the war on the side of Russia in the Kursk region, demonstrates an extremely poor understanding of the threat from drones and reacts to them in a rather strange way, according to the Telegram channel of the head of Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation Andrii Kovalenko.

Kovalenko noted that the dead Korean soldiers did not have a visual understanding of the danger from drones before the drone strikes.

This may indicate that the Russians did not provide adequate training to North Korean soldiers on the tactics of using drones.

“This demonstrates that the lives of Koreans have no value for the Russians,” Kovalenko added.

He emphasized that the Russians are trying to hide their failures and are organizing a quick evacuation of the bodies of the dead soldiers.

“The desire to conceal the failures of the North Koreans is playing a role,” the CCD head said.

Participation of DPRK soldiers in the war against Ukraine

North Korea is actively supporting Russia in the war against Ukraine, providing not only military assistance but also sending its soldiers to the front.

Due to poor training and the attitude of the Russian command, North Korean soldiers are dying. For example, in one of the battles in the Kursk region, the Ukrainian Special Forces killed around fifty DPRK soldiers. But the exact number of North Koreans killed is currently unknown.

The United States has emphasized that it will consider the involvement of DPRK troops in hostilities on the territory of Ukraine as an escalation of the conflict by Russia and North Korea. When crossing the border, the participation of DPRK troops in hostilities makes them legitimate targets for the Ukrainian military.

Earlier, Nazar Voloshyn, a spokesperson for the Khortytsia unit, said that Russia could throw North Korean soldiers into the fighting in eastern Ukraine. However, there is no official information on this possibility.
