US President Donald Trump commented on Russia’s initiative to use frozen assets to pay its contribution to the Peace Board, noting the possibility of a positive outcome for such an agreement, according to CNN.
Trump responded to Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s plans to direct funds frozen in the US to the Peace Board, emphasizing that if the financing takes place, it would be the right move. The comment was made while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One.
Possible use of frozen assets
Journalists asked the US president whether Putin could use frozen Russian assets to pay the membership fee. In response, Trump emphasized that if the funds were used, it would be great.
“He’s going to join the Board of Peace, and he’s going to make a contribution of a billion dollars, and by using his money – I mean, if he’s using his money — that’s great,” the president said.

Earlier, the Russian leader stated that Russia could direct one billion dollars to the Peace Board for the Gaza Sector, using frozen assets in the US. The initiative sparked widespread public reaction, raising questions about international law and the control of frozen funds.
The US will receive permission to deploy elements of the Golden Dome missile defense system on Greenland. In an interview with Fox Business, President Donald Trump emphasized that the negotiations ensure the US's full access to the island’s defense infrastructure, while technical details continue to be coordinated, and the main terms of the agreement have already been defined.
Notably, in negotiations about Greenland’s future, US President Donald Trump did not raise the issue of the island’s sovereignty. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that progress in the discussions was achieved without touching this question, with participants focusing on ensuring security in the Arctic region.
